Handmade Jewelry Works in Progress

I'm finally caught up on all of my orders! So now it's time to play around and make some new pieces! I ordered new leather in lavender, teal and peach and am so excited to start using it! I love the peach with gold, so I made a hexagon geometric statement necklace.  Also, I'm making a few smaller pendant leather necklaces, some with hand painted triangles and the other with tassels.  New designs should be posted in my shop for the rest of the week starting tonight!

Handmade Jewelry - Neon Leather Statement Necklaces

I've been getting ready for the summer season creating bold neon leather statement necklaces in a variety of different colors.  The necklaces feature different materials such as goose feathers, Italian leather hides, wood beads and even my new holographic leather.  It may seem that this Chicago winter may never end.  However, inside my studio is filled with bright blinding color to get me through.

Handmade Geometric Fashion Jewelry on It's Way to London!

I have just completed a wonderful order of my custom handmade leather bib necklaces and their on their way overseas.  Whenever I send a big order like this out I feel like celebrating.  Today I will take a small break and go back to work tomorrow refreshed and ready!

Here are the pieces I made and I showed them in their adorable packaging.  They range from my metallic cellular statement necklace, my kaleidoscope leather pendant and bib necklace series, a hand cut leaf lattice crescent necklace and my intricate metal work white leather statement necklace.

Colorful Frida Kahlo Mexican Style Jewelry

Below is my version of a Frida Kahlo inspired desert Southwest colorful leather cactus necklace. Here's the story behind it:

I spent the past 5 years in California working on getting my Masters before finally moving back to Chicago.  I'm not sure because of the weather change or the impending winter, I find myself missing it.  I made a lot of great friends, saw amazing sights and fell in love the the landscape. After taking several trips to Olivera Street and having many Mexican Los Angeles born friends, I wanted to create jewelry that reflects that part of my life.  I wanted to hand craft something that reminded me of the long road trips through the deserts of the Southwest, the landscapes and people.

This necklace also reflects my own Mexican American heritage.  People always asked me what my ethnicity was because I look like the agglomeration of so many.  In case you were wondering, I'm half Mexican and half Czechoslovakian.  Or Czech-Mex as my friends like to call it.

Handmade Statement Necklaces

I've been working on some new pieces in the shop.  It seems there is never enough time in the day when you own your business.  I could spend almost all day just photographing and editing.  Add marketing, blogging, designing, hand making the pieces, packaging and shipping and the day is already over.  As much work as it is I love it and I couldn't see myself doing anything else.
